Montgomery County Cruise-Ins
My '53 Plymouth (Charlene) is chillin' at the Montgomery Village Liberty station, getting a new lease on life under the 'general contractorship' of Ray Schwartz. I paid a visit to Rockville Ring and Bearing yesterday, where the engine is being overhauled, and I've attached a foto of the newly machined block. Doug (the proprietor) said that the engine was in great shape and wasn't as worn as many he's seen, and 'for good measure' he's bored the cylinders a bit over and shaved a bit off the head. Now THAT should give Charlene a little attitude, don't ya think?!
The engine, completely rebuilt by Rockville Ring & Bearing and sporting a coat of original silver engine paint, waiting at the Montgomery Village Liberty station to be reinstalled.  The intake and exhaust manifolds have been cleaned and reassembled, with the heat riser rebuilt and a new automatic choke installed. Fender wells and crossmember detailed and repainted, ready for the new engine. Ray hopes to reinstall the engine this Monday. Transmission is due back from Fourcade this week. Charlene may be back on the streets in early March!  Great news Charlene now has her engine installed and is ready to hit the road again
